Bengt Tuner is the new chairman of the Locanis AG Management Board
- Former Head of Business Development EMEA at Schenker High Tech Logistics GmbH has plans for further expansion at the intralogistics specialists.
Bengt Tuner (46) is the new chairman of the Management Board of the logistics specialists
Locanis AG. The new CEO sees his principal goals as being to further develop the worldwide patented product IntelliGence, to exploit new market potential and in doing so drive forward the process of internationalisation.
Locanis is market leader in the field of navigation technology in intralogistics. The 46-year-old top manager will be taking up his post at the German headquarters of Locanis in Unterföhring near Munich.
Tuner will be bringing many years of experience within the logistics industry to his new role. Before joining Locanis, the 46-year-old Swede was, most recently, Head of Business Development EMEA at Schenker High Tech Logistics GmbH in Frankfurt. Before that, Tuner was Vice President of the logistics group UTI Worldwide in Scandinavia, at the same time functioning as CEO of UTI Logistics AB in Sweden.
The new Locanis boss has set himself ambitious goals: “For Locanis, Germany is one of the most important growth markets worldwide. Although here in Germany we are market leaders in the field of navigation technology in intralogistics, we need to further strengthen our existing market position and expand into new sectors. In parallel with this, we hope to drive forward the international expansion of the company.”
According to Locanis, IntelliGence functions in 80 percent of all storage facilities, whether these are block storage or high bay warehouses, indoor or outdoor storage facilities. The intralogistics product allows logistics service providers to track all goods movements in 3D, from the receipt of incoming goods to loading. Among other things, this makes possible automatic, continuous batch tracking and the management of dynamic storage areas as well as a permanent inventory with statistical analyses of all stock movements. According to the Locanis CEO, the typical advantages of an optimised intralogistics system also include up to 15% more efficient use of existing storage areas, a reduction in capital tie-up, a reduction in energy consumption, acceleration of stock turnover and improvements in the eco-balance, and not least an improvement in operating procedures.
